Ca$h was, like 75% me just watching Boondock Saints and wanting to use Norman Reedus as a bamf. The other 25% was me wanting to do a Slytherin that wasn't an EVIL PUREBLOOD WHO WANTS TO KILL ALL HUMANS. Which is still SURPRISINGLY RARE.

stubles is my dog. + my kirley. Like if someone put them in one of those machines from the fly. Kirley is a spoiled rich kid/HARDCORE DRUG ADDICT with an eating disorder/sid vicious, and my dog wants your attention but also go away he doesn't want your attention and he starts shaking for no reason. Also my dog's name is ziggy stardust and there's a not-entirely-accidental bowie theme going on with stubs.

I was going to ask about Stubby BUT okay Elphias and Pandora then! (Because they are also cool.)

With Dogey, I wanted to be a ~team player~ and play a disposable character, but I was never that good at playing death eaters (says the person currently apping a death eater lololol). So it was between playing Gilderoy Lockhart falsely accused of being an Order member bc he couldn't stop telling people he was a Big Deal in the Order, or playing an impatient old man who's all, "Yeah, I was in the Order, SO WHAT? I'M A HERO DIPSHITS."

then cheryl suggested patrick stewart and i apparently just decided to play my grandpa.

AND THEN PAN. I reread the series a couple months ago, and there was something about Xeno in Deathly Hallows that struck me. When Luna's been kidnapped, and he's so broken and desperate just to get her back, and I realized that he was also a widower and I felt SO BAD FOR HIM. I wanted to kind of delve into Luna's parents, and apparently that meant her mother because I am DETERMINED to play only the most tertiary of characters. Also, I found a PB for Pan almost immediately.

...Lockhart would've been amazing (I would love to see some more falsely accused people actually) but Dogey is amazing and I love his grumpy grandpaness. And how he was all fine, you're not on drugs when Meaghan protested.

Pan's pb is fantastic. I love her hair. And I really liked how her history is so full of tragedy, and we know that she's going to die fairly young herself. Her accident is going to be so devastating to a family that's already been through so much, I couldn't help feeling preemptively sorry for them.

...BUT HEY speaking of Rookwood, I know he's not in yet but what's the inspiration there? I'm always interested to see him in games.

I felt SO BAD when I was writing Pan. Every time I would open up her app, I’d be like, “Welp, time to ruin her parents’ life a little more.”

So Rookwood is mostly a rip off of another DE I played before, but actually his backstory works really well for Rookwood so I’M KEEPIN’ IT. Basically, his parents are both deaf. And that was because

iliekrp likes to point out that all the handicapped people are missing from Hogwarts, and at the time I was ALL UP IN the deaf community, studying sign language and whatnot. So his basic inspiration was that he was involved in the magic eugenics community, but his parents would probably usually be drummed out of that circle by virtue of their disability*, so he’s already got a kind of double life going. THEN, there was the fact that, when you’re a hearing person in the deaf community, if people see you signing with someone else in public, they tend to assume you’re deaf too and you would be surprised at how much mad shit people will just openly talk. So I was thinking about how he’s probably pretty quiet, and he’s learned to just sit there and listen and let people talk at him, never really letting on that he’s remembering everything you say.

And then also he’s an Unspeakable, and I just like the idea of an Unspeakable that doesn’t like to talk much.

* The majority of the deaf community will balk at deafness being called a disability. I just used the word mostly as shorthand.

I had so little free time yesterday that I wasn't really able to say how much I LOVE this concept, and I still really don't have a ton of time but I REALLY LOVE IT.

Like, I know what you mean about there not being a lot of disabilities in HP (and about the deaf culture in particular not considering it a disability - I took ASL ages ago so I know a very very little about that). I've been in a game with a girl who couldn't speak (I don't know if "mute" is still an okay term), and I've seen one, maybe two deaf characters. And that's about it apart from learning disabilities like dyslexia. (Or would that count too?)

So I think it's really cool that you've done that, and you're doing that, and I'm really looking forward to seeing it in game because that's super interesting. :)

I think I've been at most of your characters birth except Kirley and Frank. But Frank can't start threads sooo.

And honestly, kirley didn't really become kirley until he got sick. That pretty much set the stage for the rest of him.

THEN I KNOW ALL. much like you know all of mine. except for some of my pb ones but theyre just recycled hp ones.
