A new journalling site, mostly new journal names. Which is why I feel like doing...

When choosing a name for a journal, sometimes you're just trying to find something that vaguely describes a character that hasn't been taken. Sometimes you use song lyrics, or a phrase you like. Sometimes you just use a variation of the character's name. Why did you choose that particular word or phrase for your characters' journals?



Kirley Duke - mushroom_samba - Kirley stayed the same as he was at GJ, because I'm just way too in love with his journal name. It's just a Cowboy Bebop reference, but I love that episode, and IN ended with Kirls and Wags taking 'shrooms and going out in a blaze of glory, so I had to stick with it.

Frank Longbottom - bravesirfrank - Another one that stayed the same from GJ. I ♥ Monty Python, and he and Alice have matching journals, so I had to keep it the same.

Xavier Jordan - rhythmandblues - This was X's IN journal name, and I loved it and was shocked it wasn't taken. He's a DJ, and he was originally made because I needed someone who was into non-punk music, to balance out Kirls. So, R&B! And I just like the name, too.

Lucius Malfoy - lipreading - Lucky knows how to read lips, and he's pretty silent and observant of others. Pretty much it.

Cash Proudfoot - cashregister - Well, for one, his name is Cash (and, ironically enough, he's cheap as fuck), and then Cash and Reg = cash register!

Hestia Jones - took - She's tiny, and Reg calls her Took.

Burton Jones - limeswithorange - Limes With Orange is a Jones Soda flavour, and it's a pun Burton would totally appreciate, being the secret nerd that he is.

Thorfinn Rowle - tales_of_gore - I created Thor while the Immigrant Song was stuck in my head (and it wasn't until I was halfway through creating him that I realized I was humming it), which was strangely appropriate, so I totally needed an Immigrant Song journal name. Plus, it rhymes with Thor.

Sebastian Duke - smartypants - Seb's a snarky little brain, simple as that.

Neville Longbottom - herbologist - Neville's good at herbology and he's an assistant Herbology professor right now.

Lee Jordan - test_card_f - I was looking up things about caulrophobia to try and find a Lee journal, since he's a clown, and I found out that there was a clown doll on Test Card F that gave a lot of kids nightmares. Clearly, it was meant to be.

Draco Malfoy - dormiens - I can't remember the Latin Hogwarts motto now, but I do remember it says "Never tickle a sleeping dragon," and that part of it says draco dormiens.

Hannibal Proudfoot - hanshotfirst - MY FAVOURITE JOURNAL NAME EVER. He was named Hannibal with the intent to call him Han, he's a Star Wars nerd, his parents are Star Wars nerds, and he plays Halo, so there's a lot of shooting going on.

Chewie Evgenyev - wookiee - He got his nickname from Chewbacca, the Wookiee, of course!

Mara Black - mobyle - One of the first things we learned about her, back when she was an NPC for Han or Chewie or someone, was that she had a Moby song as her ringtone on her mobile.

Ani Jones - morphinified - He's kind of addicted to morphine, ever since his motorcycle accident, and I wanted something related to that. Too bad lipslikemorphine is too long.

Tank Viliana-Aubrey - tanqueray - Her name's Tanqueray, pretty self-explanatory.

Strummer Duke - mescalero - He was named after Joe Strummer, Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros, you can follow the train of thought there.

Wampa Jones - knifeblood - He's kind of crazy violent, and his dad's younger PB is the lead singer of Aiden, so it's a reference to the Aiden song Knife Blood Nightmare Master. Which, as I realized after I made the journal, Emam and I discovered was one of the most Burton-ish Aiden songs, way back when I first started to take him over. Mainly for the line, "You'll be lying dead from stab wounds to the neck that just appeared."

Percy Weasley - percepi - I spent ages looking for a Latin Percy-ish journal name, and I found percepi, percipio, and perceptum, which I think all mean something like learned and scholarly. I flailed when I found those, because that kind of works amazingly well for Percy, and I like it a hell of a lot better than his original Latin journal, something like ~efferri.

Zacharias Smith - dumbstruckpuff - In the King James version of the Bible, Zacharias is the name of the father of John the Baptist, who was struck dumb for his doubt until after the events described by the angel Gabriel came true.

Svitrigaila Juozapavicius - strangler - Inka calls him Strangler all the time, and, as you can see, I got creative. And vilniusstrangler was too long.
